The first leg in Paris between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw meaning that it is all to play for when the sides meet at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. Laurent Blanc’s men will feel slightly aggrieved that they were not able to take a narrow lead to west London as they had a number of chances to win the match after Edinson Cavani had cancelled out Branislav Ivanovic’s opener which was the first goal that the Serb had scored in Europe since he netted the winner in the 2013 Europa League final.
Jose Mourinho’s side will have looked at the first leg and they will have worked on defending crosses, with the French side looking dangerous every time they were able to get the ball into the wide areas and Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a particular threat in the air. Chelsea will be boosted however by the return of Nemanja Matic to first team duty and the former Benfica man is a key player when it comes to defending, playing in a similar manner to Blues legend Claude Makelele.
As last season’s tie showed, there are rarely any dull matches between these two sides and the neutrals can sit back and enjoy what should be a cracking match featuring some of the world’s best players.
Chelsea v Paris St. Germain Betting Tips
- Chelsea to win – Whilst PSG were unlucky not to have won the first leg between these two, we can’t see anything other than a Chelsea win in this leg. The Blues are famously good at home and with Mourinho at the helm, they have a manager who knows how to win in Europe and we’re backing the Londoners at 10/11 with Ladbrokes.
- Both teams to score – Just like the first leg, we’re backing both teams to hit the back of the net at Stamford Bridge. Ibrahimovic and Cavani were very impressive in the first game and the Chelsea defenders will have a hard time keeping those two quiet over 90 minutes. At the other end, anything is possible when David Luiz plays at the back and Chelsea will be keen to get at their former player with BTTS at 21/20 with Ladbrokes.
- Match to feature over 3.5 goals – We think that there is going to be plenty of goals in this fixture and as such the 10/3 on offer with Coral looks like a very tempting option for those of you who like the over/under market and it certainly offers better odds than the 21/20 you get on BTTS.
- Chelsea to win 3-2 – We think that PSG will give it a real go at the Bridge and Laurent Blanc’s outfit are a very attacking side but we fancy Chelsea to outscore the Parisians in front of their own fans and you can back a 3-2 home win at massive odds of 40/1 with Betfred.
