Chelsea v Manchester United Betting Tips – 18th April 2015

Saturday’s late kick off sees in-form Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge to face league leaders Chelsea and with the title not quite in the bag yet, Chelsea will have to be at the top of their game if they are to get a positive result.

The meeting between the two earlier in the season ended in a 1-1 draw as Robin van Persie clinched a late winner to keep United within touching distance of the Blues. Since then Jose Mourinho’s side have pulled away at the top of the league but they won’t be looking forward to the visit of the Red Devils.

United will be riding on a wave of confidence after they battered Manchester City last weekend and apart from an early spell when City were on top, Louis van Gaal’s side dominated the proceedings. At times, their attacking play was a sight to behold although they were sometimes caught on the hop at the back and that is something that Van Gaal will look to tighten up on.

Chelsea also featured in a derby last week as they came through a tough match to win their first league match at Loftus Road for 32 years however they left it late with Cesc Fabregas popping up to seal all three points with only two minutes of normal time left on the clock.

Matches between these two teams are often tight affairs and although this game might not ultimately unlikely have too much bearing on who wins the Premier League, there is no doubt that both teams will be doing their utmost to win.

Chelsea v Manchester United Betting Tips

  • Chelsea to win – We’re tipping home advantage to carry Jose Mourinho’s boys over the line and land the Blues all three points and you can back a home win at odds of 20/21 with BetVictor. United haven’t beaten Chelsea since early 2012 when they recorded a 3-2 victory over a Chelsea side who had been reduced to 10 men, so we fancy the home hide to edge it.
  • Chelsea to win by one goal – Just as the game earlier in the season was, we’re backing this match to be another tight affair. Only two of the last 10 victories between the side have been by more than one goal and with both teams enjoying a good run of form a Chelsea win by one goal at odds of 11/4 with Sky Bet looks like a good bet.
  • Eden Hazard to score first – Hazard was a constant thorn in the side of the QPR defence last week and we reckon it’ll be the Belgian international who opens the scoring on Saturday. The former Lille man also takes penalties and you can back him to score first at 7/2 with Betfair.
  • Wayne Rooney to score at anytime – Rooney has been a key player in United’s late-season revival and he is certainly a big game player. With plenty of goals recently you can back the former Everton man to hit the back of the net at odds of 2/1 with BetVictor.
